There are weddings and then there are the ones that feel like a long weekend with your favourite people. Anton and Alva's celebration at Relais Guado al Sole in Tuscany was firmly the second kind. Intimate, warm, and very much alive from start to finish.
I arrived the day before the wedding to find everyone already gathered around the pool for a casual BBQ. No dress code, no schedule, just good food and cold drinks in the Tuscan sun. It was exactly the kind of evening that tells you everything about a couple — Anton and Alva had surrounded themselves with people who really know how to be together. I barely put my camera down.
The morning of the wedding arrived with that particular Tuscan heat that starts early and means business. Getting ready with Alva had the feeling of calm before something wonderful. Everyone moving slowly, carefully, aware that the day was about to shift into something they would remember for the rest of their lives.
Anton waited with a row of cypress trees behind him, the kind you only find in Tuscany, and when Alva walked towards him the look on his face was worth every hour of the drive to get there.
The ceremony at Relais Guado al Sole was everything an intimate wedding should be. A small group of people who genuinely belong in each other's lives, gathered together under the Tuscan sun to watch two people they love get married. No empty seats, no strangers. Just the inner circle, and a lot of happy tears.
After the ceremony everyone moved outside into the sunshine with drinks and snacks. The kind of reception where nobody checks their phone and conversations run long. Relaxed and unhurried, with the rolling Tuscan hills sitting quietly in the background doing what they do best.
Dinner was set outside, a long table dressed with flowers. The evening light did the rest. The speeches were funny and honest and went on in the best possible way, exactly what you want from a group of people who actually know each other. Good food, good wine, and at some point, cake.
Then the night took over. The music got louder, the dancing got properly good, and somewhere around midnight the party found its natural ending. Everyone in the pool. Clothes and all. Anton and Alva right in the middle of it, surrounded by the people they love most. Relais Guado al Sole gave them the most beautiful backdrop. But this wedding was always about the people in it.
If you're dreaming of a place that takes your breath away, I would love to be the one to capture it.
